About Maharashtra University of Health SciencesMaharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) was established on 3 June 1998 by the state Government of Maharashtra through an ordinance. The State Legislature passed Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act 1999 (Act No X) and received the assent of the Governor, in the Maharashtra Government Gazette on 21 January, 1999. The University was declared open by the Governor of Maharashtra on June 10, 1998 and all colleges and institutions imparting education in health science in the state of Maharashtra have been affiliated to this new university under Section 6(3) of the Act. This University has got the membership of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) & Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). It has also been included in the list of Universities maintained by University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UCG Act 1956. The University has 188 affiliated colleges spread over 35 districts in the State. The University has been allotted 51 acres of Govt. land on Nashik Dindori Road within Nashik Municipal Corporation limits. The campus is located in the scenic hilly surroundings, in the vicinity of the famous Jain Shrine of Chaamar Lene. BDS degree has been recognised by the Dental Council of India. MBBS degree has been recognised by Medical Council of India. BAMS, BUMS & BHMS degrees are in the process of being recognised by respective Central Councils.
